Boston x Bloggers x Microsoft

Over the weekend I told you guys about the Microsoft event I attended Friday, March 29th. There are a lot pictures and tad bits that I wish to share with you so, I had to break up this subject into three posts. This is my second post and the first post, "Bloggers x Microsoft x Just Dance" can be found here.

For me this social was more of a chance to meet some local bloggers that I admire and follow on my social media channels.

Katherine of Style Tab
Katherine has an amazing wardrobe and the personality to match! Boston is so small that we all live in each others back yards & know the same people.. might as well get to know each other. Getting acquainted with the other bloggers felt inspiring. I feel like we have similar mind frames and can discuss certain topics that wouldn't pertain to our normal lives and relationships.

If you ever hire a blogger, just know that her camera equipment is not far behind. Pictures are worth so much, in regards to; making memories, creating visuals, and serious marketing tactics. Side note... I feel like Microsoft until recently has marketed the Xbox separate from the Microsoft brand. Xbox was introduced to America in 2001 and has been successful in multiple generations of console. I have 2 younger brothers who have owned every generation of Xbox's since 2001 and I don't ever recall associating Microsoft with Xbox but, now I do and it positively alters my opinion of the brand.

The Her Campus ladies and I will be trying out the Surface Pro 2 tablets to take the Windows 8 software on a test drive. I have been using it daily and my favorite asset is working on the touch screen and keyboard combine-- makes me feel so studios ;) Making studying fun *gasp*

Bloggers making connection...
Networking events is a common occurrence as you enter the 'professional' world. We are all aiming for dream jobs, and since dream jobs usually don't come in a first class mail order, networking can benefit everyone (more or less).
Ingrid (from Smilingrid blog) and Windsor (co-founder of Her Campus)
Erin Cullen (Styles I Like blog) and I
What the blazers were you thinking!? Well Erin and I were thinking color coordinated blazers, that's what. Erin put together a gorgeous purple ensemble to compliment her blazer. She used a blue and black color block top, lavender pants, and an assortment of gold jewelry and pearls. I am wearing a turquoise blue Burberry blazer, Club Monaco leggings, tall boots (bargain shopping at Famous Footwear), Essie spring nail polish, and a necklace from my grandmother. My makeup was all Nars products.

So far I am using the Surface tablet as a mini laptop but, I do not think it can fully substitute my laptop yet. I will be dissecting and working through all the cool apps of a Surface Pro 2 so, give me some suggestions of what apps work best on this tablet or if there is something exclusively useful for Microsoft's Surface Pro 2.

Bloggers x Microsoft x Just Dance

Microsoft released new software, 'Windows 8', for their new Surface Pro 2. To celebrate this new release and get the word out Microsoft sponsored Surface Pro's for 30 bloggers to try out and review. I had the honor of being one of those bloggers and a honor it was indeed! Her Campus helped put the event together so below is a picture of Her Campus co-founder, Windsor and I at the event yesterday.

I have so much information and pictures to share with you guys from the event and about the new gadgets we received! To fit everything in I am going to break down this subject into three different blog posts that will be updated in increments of every other day, until all the goodies have been revealed. This is part one of the Microsoft event series and I am starting off with the bloggers Just Dance competition. Below are some action pictures from the games.

Our swag bags had goodies from Sephora, Neuro drinks, plus more! Peep those sweets at the end of the table...? If not, my stomach can absolutely attest to the deliciousness of the chocolate dipped strawberries plus other chocolate treats.

How To Wear A Summer Dress in the Winter

It isn't exactly winter but, it is colder than 50 degrees fahrenheit. This being said how do we wear our cute dresses, begging to be worn, when the cold wind is biting our butts! (New England Problems!) There are miscellaneous "nice" days where one can possibly rock a nice dress but, keeping warm is the problem... That wind current giving you goosebumps? Try thick stockings!

Stockings are a necessity and a desire! Giving your legs a sexy lean appearance all year wrong- minus the majority of the scorching summer weeks!

Pair the dress with either a solid neutral button-up shirt left open or a flannel for that 'hipster' vibe. Macy's mstylelab has so many options to chose from when it comes to layers! I picked out a few new spring pieces last week... Here are some outfit posts about those purchases:

ACCESSORIZE! I added a simple gold chain and cute preppy bow to add to the girliness of this ensemble. I suggest keeping the accessories simple if you are wearing a patterned or flowery dress but, feel free to get crazy with the accessories if you are wearing a solid colored dress.

Blogger Lunch Boston Del Frisco's

Del Frisco's treated a couple of bloggers and I to a fabulous 5 star Boston lunch. There was literally so much food to eat that this post is going to be more of a photo diary rather than a point by point description. Everything was delicious! If you live in one of the following locations, book a dinner at Del Frisco's soon!

Boston, MA                 Charlotte, NC
Chicago, IL                  Dallas, TX
Denver, CO                 Fort Worth, TX
Houston, TX                Las Vegas, NV
New York, NY             Philadelphia, PA

Join the Del Frisco's emailing list for a FREE appetizer on your next visit ;) !

Del Frisco's exclusive selections...

Blogger Recommended: Del Frisco's Spicy Crab Cake
Everyone has different taste and preference so, when I say that everyone loved the crab cake (pictured in the middle with scrumptious sauce) I am not exaggerating.

Leaning Tower of Onion Rings!

Holy Grail Lemon Cake! Del Frico's lemon cake is so moist, sweet, and delicious that just the dessert alone warrants a visit.

The service is amazing and prompt. The bartenders are friendly, welcoming, and cater to your needs. The Boston location has a gorgeous view (waterfront!) so, over the summer watch the boats and tankers sail by while you enjoy your meal.

I do not regret breaking my diet and eating every entree because Del Frisco's has some of the best steak and tuna dishes I've ever had.

They also have gluten free options!

How I Style Camo Jeans for Spring

Thanks to Amanda Cross (fellow Her Campus blogger), I was able to buy a new battery for my Nikon D50 camera on Amazon! I haven't been able to set up photo shoots or get great resolution in my pictures till now so, I am relieved that the pictures for my Macy's mstylelab shoot are better quality.

This is my second mstylelab post for the #MacysCampusTour featured on www.macyscampustour.com. I am so excited to share with you all about how I plan to style my new Levi camo jeans this spring. I put together two looks; one is casual and the latter a bit more 'fancy' or something to wear to a nice brunch with your friends.

Look One

This first look is the casual ensemble. I paired the jeans w/ a comfy sports t-shirt and an army green American Rag jacket. Wear this outfit to classes, sport events, hanging out with friends, etc. The weather is so effy here in New England that I could wear this outfit in the fall, winter, spring, and even the summer if it is around sixty-seventy degrees fahrenheit.

I decided to use camo jeans as my center piece b/c they are usually the victim on the reality show "What NOT To Wear". I wanted to put together some ensembles that transformed this froggy item into a prince's/princess' go-to jeans. They pull out the creativity in your everyday routine... LOL the point is.. every once in a while be bold and change up your norm.

Look Two

This is the ensemble that is a bit more "fancy" than look one. But actually look one and look two seem to be on the same caliber of casualness and just different styles. This look is girlier which, I perceived as  fancier. With a oversized knit sweater and cute graphic tee this look can be worn pretty much at the same functions as look one.

"New Balance Fresh Foam 980" Shoe Review

Before the launch of New Balance's 'maximalist' Fresh Foam 980 shoe or 'shoe that encompasses all things amazing that we look for in running shoes', I was fortunate enough to get get the chance to try them out. I use the Fresh Foam 980s for short and long distant runs, cardio workouts, and running errands.

If you follow me on twitter, instagram, or facebook it is no secret that I advocate for fitness and healthy lifestyles. New Balance, headquartered in Boston, MA has the following mission: Demonstrating responsible leadership, they build global brands that athletes are proud to wear, associates are proud to create and communities are proud to host. So of course when giving the chance to promote and demo the brand I feel honored and excited to be apart of something global yet local.

Upon receiving the Fresh Foam's I fell in love with the cotton candy colors and began to calculate how many sports bras/yoga pant ensembles I already own that match this shoe. I read a ton of reviews before initially trying on the shoe and I had gathered that this shoe is uber soft, plushy, "like running on pillows". I was thinking 'how could this exist?'... I mean, maybe New Balance really are miracle workers and conjure up secret potions at their local Boston headquarters.

On my first run, which was a short distance run, I felt like the shoes had a comfy 'tires on the road' support. When you first wear them you may need to break them in and allow them to hug your unique foot shape because, otherwise they might feel a bit unstable (especially if you have abnormal pronation). When I say 'pronation', imagine UGGS that have worn out only on one side of the foot. The Fresh Foams have so much cushioning and molding technology in it that it is just as efficient for flat footed runners.

That airbrush detail on the sides is gorgeous and unique from the usual solid colors, plain white, or bland tone. I think it is fun and bright for spring conditioning!

Added bonus: Fresh Foam's make me feel toner in yoga pants. I love the Fresh Foam's and have no complaints. When I first tried the shoes I thought that the laces were flimsy and seemed to be made for style rather than function however, the laces are sturdier than I thought and could be easily replaced if you feel otherwise.
