#BosMakers Blogger Event

A few days ago I attended an event in South End, Boston hosted by {Olives & Grace} and {Blog and Tweet Boston}. The event was held at the Gifted shop on the corner of Tremont and Dartmouth and the gathering was all set up in the basement. There were about 10 tables and multiple vendors for all the bloggers to go around and check out.

I started my round with Porcelain and Stone by Kimberly H.

I loved Kimberly's piece's but also her personality! While speaking with her, I could tell she truly loves what she does and you can see the passion she puts into her work! I have so many favorites form her collection but, just to name one: The new addition to her collection, the porcelain cups! And her rings are gorgeous! Check out her website to see what one of a kind items you can share with your family and friends!

Next stop on the list was Confabulous Cases by Ali

These super convenient cases are easily interchangeable in a matter of seconds! Change your mood! Then change your iphone case... It's as easy as that! Only for iphone cases and selected patterns are available on her site.

For some reason the treat of the summer has been, Macarons! In an adorable display, Ms. Nina of Moochie's Macarons, layed out an array of flavors of her gourmet treats. I tasted almost all the flavors and walked away knowing that Lavender & Honey is a flavor I can't wait to share! You wouldn't expect lavender to have a sweet delectable taste but, it did!

Yuthica by Chinku was the candle vendor of the night. Not just any candle company, Yuthica's candles and made solely from soy and last longer this way. Give this gift to a love one to represent a longer relationship. The good smell is a bonus! Chinku also let me try some new products she hasn't released yet. The Body Butter, Body Creme, and Soy Tea Light were amongst these products. I haven't had the chance to try the Soy Tea Light candle yet but, the body butter and creme were sensational. I recommend them as gifts for the colder seasons like, winter and fall.

Round House Jewelry by Lisa

Lisa had on display cute jewelry pieces that were unlike no other. Her main component of her jewelry is actually clay! She cuts the clay into intricate pieces and designs.. then viola! a beautiful gold or silver item. Cute gifts for that one of a kind friend!

Olives and Grace had products from multiple vendors in their shop.

Tea Cuvee by Evy Chen
All of my friends know that I am hard core lover of tea! I drink tea for any and everything! Please just send me to England now ;) So when I saw Evy's table I was excited to see what made her tea different and after hearing her story I was sold! Tea Cuvee may be the healthiest and best brewed tea I've ever tasted! Her high quality tea is cold brewed, which gives the leaves the chance to slowly release the flavor and preserve it, instead of burning right through it with hot water! Check out her website to learn more and see where you can purchase your own bottle(s) of Tea Cuvee!

A few pictures I took of the jewelry display in Gifted!

If you would like to see the bloggers live tweets during the event, check out this hashtag (#BosMakers) to get the inside scoop!

Thank you Gifted for the gorgeous bling goodie's!

Ole Restaurant Group Review

Olecito of Cambridge

Ole is an upscale Mexican Grill in beautiful city of Cambridge, MA. I recently attended there re-opening party to celebrate new renovations. Before the party started, I arrived 2 hours early to get the VIP treatment and really taste and experience the restaurant before the guest arrived. I met the chef, manager, and the PR manager Elisa was great at really explaining to us what was in our food and the Mexican origin behind it.

The food was very fresh and I can definitely tell that it is an authentic Mexican dish because, I've never tasted the flavors I tasted at Ole, at any other restaurant. Before we even finished our appetizer a waiter came out with avocado and ingredients, to make fresh guacamole, right at our table! How fresh can you get?

There is also a selection of traditional Mexican beverages on the menu.

Traditional cinnamon ice cream and pastry with caramel drizzle

This vendor was set up for the grand re-opening party

This meal was provided to me complimentarily for a blog review. My opinion is all my own. If you are interested in having me review your business please feel free to contact me at semirahdolan@yahoo.com.

Cambridgeside Galleria 4th Annual Run and Ride

This weekend I had the pleasure of volunteering for the second year in a row with the Run and Ride of Cambridge but, this year with celebrity guest Mario Lopez! I literally handed out medals to the children, side by side with Mario Lopez. I was actually planning on attending a different event at the same time but, I am so glad I took the time to come into town and promote an active way of life in the nation's most walkable town.

I recently changed my hair to braids for the summer because it is more manageable for me in this hot weather! So if you don't recognize me, I am the girl in the green shirt and black&white dress. I was accompanied by a great friend, Carrie Sunde, the 2013 Miss Cambridge. She will actually be competing in Miss Massachusetts next week so, I am glad I got to wish her good luck in person.

It was a very exciting and invigorating experience to be around a celebrity. Especially since I did not have a sash or anything, it was humoring to be around Mario and have people like "Who is that girl?". I am probably in alot of people's photos of Mario because, Carrie and I were by his side for the medaling.   He came and left with a huge and rather unnecessary pose but, hey! that is the luxury's of being a hollywood celebrity. They fetched him coffee and any thing he basically asked for. It was very funny to see them scrambling around. All the parents of the racers had to stand behind a yellow tape so, I thought it was very cool to be not swarmed and crowded by cameras while working with Mario Lopez. It's weird to think this handsome creature is my mom's age. haha sorry mom! I didn't tell everyone your exact age ;) LOL but I just wanted to share some photos and a bit of my experience with you guys! I still find meeting celebrity's a really cool thing and I love to hear other people's experiences.

Cocoanuts Boston Blogger Event

Fixx Chocolates by Nicole

I think I spent a good amount of the party conversing with Nicole, the owner of Fixx Chocolates, a local and new chocolate bar company. It was really neat hearing Nicole's story, from her grand idea to the business in the making. I think the coolest part, is how Nicole names her bars after family members. Sneak peek! Her next bar will be named after her grandmother and feature cocoanuts and pretzels! Stay on the look out for that :)

Gorg and simple set up that laid out the chocolate samples for the bloggers and guest.

The featured bars included: Bud's, Abby's, Andy's, and Nikki's. My favorite was Andy's because, the passion fruit and praline surprised me with such a dynamic and complementary taste.

Cocoanuts Boston

Cocoanuts Boston was built on a strong foundation. The two owners Tara and Jen have been best friends and the ying and yang to each others life since the age of 12. Jen was not able to make the event but, I did have the pleasure of speaking and meeting with Tara. In the picture, after concluding the event, Tara (Cocoanuts Boston owner), Jen (@bosbachelorette, @blogandtweetbos), and I posed for a photo. The theme of the event was centered around summer, being that summer is when we bring out all the sweets and get our friends together to hang out. The chocolates were cut up into small pieces to make sharing and socializing combine with ease. The macaroons in flavors: PB&J, Salted Caramel, and Chai, were bite size with bursting flavor! This was actually my first time tasting macaroons and I am glad that it was at Cocoanuts Boston. My friends have told me nightmares of stale and flaky macaroons but, these were fresh and delicious. The only other place I could find macaroons of equal caliber would be France. (Some macaroons from France have recently arrived so, I got to taste some more macaroons shortly after this event!)

Little Bits toffee is gluten free and braces approved :D !

I liked the fresh fruit bowls on the platters of assorted chocolate. I personally don't indulge in chocolate often so, it was refreshing to be able to clear my palette with either mango or strawberry.

Cold drinks were also served to compliment the sweets!

Lark Fine Foods

The Lark rep, Ra'chelle and I at the event. My favorite of all the Lark cookies were COCOLOCOS and the Shortbread with rosemary. Their Lark Bark crisp oat cookies were also really good and are in the process of having a gluten free version. What's not to love about cookies? The key is finding the flavor that fits you AND the Lark Fine Foods include healthy ingredients to promote a continuos healthy diet.

Bissinger's Gummy Panda Review

Before leaving the blogger event at Cocoanuts Boston, I grabbed a few treats for home. Gummy candy is my ultimate favorite candy in the world but, with braces I really have to refrain from indulging in this candy. After tasting Bissinger's Pomegranate and White Tea gummy pandas, I am in love and totally willing to break the rules. These all natural organic gummy's were available in 5 flavors and I am almost certain that, that is enough variety for everyone to have a favorite! I am going to be working near Cocoanut's Boston this summer so, I will definitely periodically stop by and make my way through all of the Gummy Panda flavors.

Graffiti and Hermes

Yay or Nay? As seen on Lady Gaga and many up and coming fashion icons and bloggers. Customizing or more blatantly covering a Hermes Birkin bag has been a new trend on my radar. Hermes is an expensive brand and to openly make a statement by using street art inspired markings on this bag is truly rebellious and audacious. I like it ;) What do you think?

I feel like most would be very skeptical to pull a stunt like this. But for all you free spirits and fashion lovers, I could totally see it becoming the "it" thing.

Check out Lady Gaga's reedition with multiple languages!

If you are under 18 and still are provided luxury's by your parents then, please discuss with your parents before placing any type of marker on this $10,000 bag.

Your College Dorm Speaks For You

One of the first right of passages that you go through when transitioning to college is; the process of landing in a dorm and decorating it to your hearts desires. Your dorm speaks for you. Let's say you spent the whole summer after your senior year either; savoring the last moments with your childhood friends, cramming in summer classes, devoting hours to an internship, or catching up on some zzz's you know you aren't going to get during your freshman year of college... in between all of this, there is a 45% chance that you actually took the time to meticulously plan at the floor plan of your dorm. If you did, you thought about how do you want to be perceived to either your roommate or potential circle of friends. Or to make the process insanely simple, your confident little body opted for the "Be Yourself" route. Now that you have an idea of how you want to go about filling and designing the small space allotted to college freshman, we can through out some ideas. The dorm is your little slice of home and whatever familiarities you can find, of your own, naturally attracts you. (I am using Residence Hall Linens products to simplify the search for these products)

BATH

You should, by this time, know your bathing arrangements for your dorm and have communicated with  whomever to figure out what you do and do not need to pack. Whether you have a coed, single-sex, or even a bathroom right in your dorm... Here are some "Must haves" everyone should bring:

All of the products should be waterproof to prevent messes and soggy materials. The plastic tote with a nylon strap is perfect for carrying your bath essentials. To add a personal touch, decorate the outside with your initials so that everyone knows it is yours! Wouldn't want anyone accidently grabbing your handy bath tote ;)

I know for camping trips the most important bathing essential, that I usually forget, are flip flops! These plastic/foam shoes protect your feet from the groddy and slippery floor, usually found in college dorms.

DESK

You may have the urge to fill your desk with photo frames, trophies, home memoirs, etc. but RESIST that urge. You will find that your text books, paperwork, and school supplies, will be taking over whatever little territory your desk holds. Here is the bare minimum you should have for your desk and if you are one of those people who are really great at organizing tons of stuff in small space, feel free to expand your list of desk essentials.

You need to make the most of your space and Residence Hall Linen's Bedside Buddy is perfect for giving you more room on your desk. Also, monogram it or design it, as a personal touch! Monogram stickers will be super useful for labeling your products and also cute decorations!

In addition, make sure to have your school writing utensils and these will be the majority of the items on your desk: stapler, tape, glue, pens, pencils, sharpies, scissors, and paper.

Many sites and sources are available to help you get ready to be a bonafide college freshman. Residence Hall Linens is a one-stop online store for dorm essentials.
